SJ ROBERTS JEWELLERY: A Legacy of Love and Remembrance

 

SJ ROBERTS is more than just a jewellery brand—it is a tribute to the two most precious souls in my life: my Mother & my Grandmother. Their love, strength, and unwavering spirit shaped who I am, and though they are no longer here, their presence is woven into every piece I create. My Mother’s name was Sharon which is what the S stands for and my Grandmother’s name was Joanne which is what the J stands for and Robert’s is our family name. 

Here’s a picture of my Beautiful Mother her name was Sharon and she put her whole life on hold to raise four children. Me and my three younger brothers. My Mother was the first black accountant for the Hastings observer newspaper. My Mother taught me many things including how to braid my hair, use a sewing machine and make clothes. But most importantly, she taught me how to love and to put others before myself.

 

Here’s picture of my beautiful Grandmother when she was 27 years old. My Grandmother taught how to do calligraphy and write in old English handwriting when I was a child and it’s now my handwriting that you see on all my packages and branding for SJ Roberts Jewellery. My grandma would send me letters every month. She was the only person in the world that ever wrote to me because people send emails and texts but my Nan wanted to hold on to the legacy and art form of writing a handwritten heart felt letter.

I’m also going through my storage to find the box of old letters we used to write to each other so you can see how amazing my Grandmothers handwriting is and how well she taught me. Once I find it I’ll add a photo here.

Jewellery has always been a symbol of connection, a way to hold onto cherished memories and keep loved ones close. When I lost my mother and Grandmother, wearing the jewellery that they left behind always made me feel close to them. I wanted to honour their legacy in a way that was both beautiful and meaningful. That’s how SJ ROBERTS was born—a collection inspired by their love, resilience, and the unbreakable bonds that transcend time.

 

Every piece I design and hand pick carries a story—a reminder that even in loss, there is love, and even in grief, there is beauty. My hope is that SJ ROBERTS Jewellery becomes more than an accessory for those who wear it. I want it to be a source of comfort, a symbol of strength, and a way to celebrate the people we hold dear.

 

This brand is my love letter to them, and to everyone who understands that jewellery is not just about adornment—it’s about carrying a piece of the ones we love with us, always.

Cruse provides vital resources, counselling, and a supportive community for those struggling with loss, ensuring that no one has to face bereavement alone. By supporting this incredible organization, I hope to honor my own journey and extend a helping hand to others who need comfort and guidance.
